The cultural centre Knokke-Heist in Belgium has a huge surfer scene which is located in Het Zoute since  1987 . It presented  „Surfing – The Cult of Cool“  -  700 qm fascination of surfing which has lot of fans and actives at the Belgian coast.

In 5 different scenarios there were shown surf-trends (latest trends, new reality, special features) development of surfboards through the years, surf-heroes and -professionals and their stories -  and in the "Surf House"  we showed music, films and photos of the way of living from the beginning of surfing on the North Sea coast of Hawaii.
The famous classical surf scene was here alive like the Hawaiian "Aloha Spirit" which expressed adventure and fellowship of this long-term sports-hype.

„Surfing – The Cult of Cool“ was designed by by Totems in order of  Cultuur Centrum of Knokke-Heist with input and in cooperation of  Frank va Leenhove of „Surfers Paradise“ .

A surfsimulator and an installation of virtual reality with original photos of Hawaii as well as several events  completed the exhibition. We had designed a VR tour with a VR glass and sounds of the scenes. So we took you on the board, to experience the feeling of surfing.

The famous surfboard designer and shaper Tom „Pohaku“ Stone from Hawaii came all along and and showed the visitors his skills and how to shape . And the surfboard constructor „Flow and Soul“ from Zeebrugge presented custom-boards made in Belgium.
