After nearly 20 years of working in the field of brand-experience, we enjoy it more than ever! Attitudes, perceptions and themes have changed dramatically over the years and these changes continue to surprise us every day, challenging us to remain alert in our fields of translation: architecture, exhibitions, fairs, events and print.

Storytelling

What is 3D Communication?  It all starts with a story. Your story. And we take it from there. Our team of specialists comprises of Architects, Interior Architects, Exhibit Designers, Content Developers, Copy Writers, Media and Graphic Designers. All working together to turn stories into spatial experiences.

Project Management

If creativity is our heart and soul. Managing the creative and realization processes are our blood and veins. One does not work well without the other and our team has a proven track record of both qualities. We know how to take control of the process, keeping you involved but comfortable in the outcome.

Design

Although you might not find a signature style of design, one thing you will find in every project; a visual language that matches the story that is being told. Focusing on the target group,
we connect them to the Brand, Theme or Experience that is being offered. Always striving for lightness, colorfulness and surprising perpectives.

Our work is driven by passion. We simply like to surprise our clients with outstanding work. It's as simple as that. And if an award comes along with it, even better.

Here is our long term client list. They like our attitude and vice versa. The cooperation works on a friendly but professional basis. Get the most out of it.

Attracting with a wink, inviting a touch, enticing to stay. Accessible and tangible. We zoom in on brand features, focus on company values to find out its substantial core. What evolves from this are multidimensional stories, emotional spaces, rich experiences for the visitors.

    We design spatial communication

Totems is one of the leading studios for communication in space in Germany. In three locations (Den Hague,  Stuttgart, Shanghai) we work for clients like AMG, Mercedes-Benz, Bosch Rexroth, Bertrandt, fischer or the city of Stuttgart in commercial as well as in cultural projects with very high standards of quality: trade fair stands, exhibitions, world expo pavilions, events, showrooms and retail spaces.

    We create brand experiences

Totems develops spaces, in which the essence of a brand is reflected. Based on the brand's values and its target group we sculp forms, colours, materials and atmospheres into a tangible walk-in brand environment, which makes a lasting positive impression on the visitor and thus contributes to the brand's overall reception.

    We stimulate Wow-moments

Spaces that offer experiences draw people in and evoke a sensation of curiosity and excitement. The visitor embarks on a journey of discovery. He is transported to a different time or space and is taken up by the atmosphere.

    We tell stories

Stories are an emotional vehicle to access contents and Information. They make objects and characters come to life. Each company, institution and brand has a fascinating story waiting to be told.

    We understand target groups

Totems cultivates client relationships and understands their values, objectives and desires. We also know current trends and styles in design, technology and architecture. These are our guiding principles when creating projects.

    Nomen est omen

Totems are emblems and symbols that are capable of expressing the internal nature of a subject. Our goal is to penetrate deep into the true characteristics and values of brands and companies, their identities and stories, to discover their innermost nature and translate it into a unique message.

Our diverse, international crew guarantees clients thinking outside the box of national mentality.

    Mercedes-AMG

    Performance Center Beijing Sanlitun

    Category:
    Year: 2012
    Location: Beijing, China

    Concept & Design: Totems Stuttgart

    Architecture: Kauffmann Theilig & Partner
    Production: Ambrosius

With the inauguration of the Beijing Sanlitun AMG Performance Center, Mercedes-AMG is breaking new ground. For the first time, the new store represents, exclusively, the AMG brand world; this makes it unique anywhere in the world. The AMG Performance Center in the Sanlitun Village North luxury shopping mall is situated at an exclusive top location in the centre of the Chinese capital and reflects AMG's pioneering role in design and technology in a modern setting.

The AMG Performance Center in Beijing Sanlitun fascinates and captivates through its interior and exterior architectural concepts. The store, designed in an avant-garde style, is absolutely one of a kind and is primarily oriented towards customer contact, customer information and appreciation.

On two levels and a total surface area of 381 square metres, actual and prospective customers can inform themselves about current AMG High-Performance vehicles and their technological achievements, about the AMG Driving Academy, the AMG Collection and AMG’s involvement in motor sports. In similar manner to the sample room in the AMG Performance Studio in Affalterbach, they can also experience first-hand the virtually unlimited individualisation possibilities there are: the great wealth of paint finishes and leather trim colours can be experienced both visually and haptically with the help of samples specially created for the store.

    Marine Museum

    Exhibition "Hunting Pirates"

    Category: Exhibitions
    Year: 2011
    Location: Den Helder, The Netherlands

This exhibition focussed on the actions of the Royal Navy against the Somali piracy. It gave insight into the background of contemporary piracy in the Horn of Africa, the world of the Somali pirates - and the Dutch marine force that fights them.

The exhibition was divided into three parts: The story of the Royal Navy, the story of the Somali pirates and the confrontation between these two parties. In this way the exhibition offered an extremely clear and fascinating picture and experience of the conflict and its actors.

The exhibition ran for many years in the Marine Museum in Den Helder.
